I strongly believe we have the power to change the world of Dementia and how things are within it , there is one catch though - we NEED to work together.

We the carers and those living Dementia need the professionals.

The professionals need us the carers and those living with Dementia.

How can one possibly exist without the other?

We need the professionals to impement policies and procedures, BUT we need them to listen to us to let them know what is working and what's not.

This is where you come in to play - yes you sitting reading this very post right now.

I NEED YOU, MY MUM NEEDS YOU.

I will be attending the Cross Party Group on Dementia at the Scottish Parliament in Septmeber and my aim is to take a document to pass out filled with real stories about what's happning on the ground.

It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom, if there is something working in your area then yes please shout about it, but then we need to question why it's not working in other areas.

So the good does need to come with the bad and we need to stand up and listen to each other.

Not everyone feels comfortable speaking up and that's why i am looking to compile this report to present, you may think what you have to say isnt important - but it is, it's so important. Youre journey is just as imporatnt as anyone else.

You may also think this doesnt apply to you as you are not a carer - again this cannot be further from the truth. You are a carer if you help for even 1 hour a week. Have you watched someone suffer and wonder why things were allowed to get that way? Then your opinion matters.

You can be annonymous and dont have to do anything bar drop me an email on mail@butalzheimersisforoldpeople.co.uk , ill do all the hard work after that.

I will post this once a week to keep fresh in peoples mind's as I am determined to compile this report this time round for me, my mum, my family, everyone I have met on this journey and everyone who unfortunately has this journey ahead of them.
