I'm on a mission to change the way the world views Alzheimer's and other Dementia related Illnesses. Before mum's diagnosis I was most definitely of the view that Alzheimer's is just about 'forgetting things' and was something you would probably get at a much later stage in life.

Now I aim to make sure that others understand the true image of dementia by highlighting the following:

People stop referring to the elderly when talking about Dementia, this only acts to support the myth that  Dementia only effects  'old people'.

People are made aware that this is an illness and NOT something we should expect to get at some point in our lives. Dementia is a brain disease NOT  a natural part of aging.

We need more support for families going through an early-onset diagnosis, their needs are different to those who have a diagnosis over the age of 65 and this needs to be  recognised.

Dementia is not just about memory loss; Dementia is also about slowly losing the ability to function in day to day life.

WE NEED A CURE
