Memory Walk

We completed our local Memory Walk yesterday for Alzheimer Scotland and it saddens me to think that that will probably be the last time mum walks round with us.
We completed the walk in just over 2 hrs, when on average it should take about 1.
Mum managed to walk the whole way, but it took everything out of her. She was exhausted and towards the end needed a seat and a rest every 10 minutes or so.
Again I know we pushed mum to the limit but the realisation that next year she probably wont be walking it with us scares me.
We were determined to have mum walk over that finishing line, and she did with the biggest smile ever as friends and family cheered her on.
It is sad to think that dementia has taken mums ability to do something as simple as a brisk walk round a relatively flat loch. Dementia is slowly stealing mum's independence, she has managed 4 memory walks. We will need to get our thinking caps on to see if we can make it a 5th next year.
Memory walks are a fantastic event and raise much needed awareness and funds for dementia.
