I thought I should share my inspiration to setting up But Alzheimers Is For Old People

I had watched a programme on BBC One called The C Word.

The programme is based on the real life story of Lisa Lynch who was diagnosed with Cancer at the age 28. She fought the battle and won, only for it to rear its ugly head again 3 years later, but this time it was incurable.

The programme was inspiring to see how she coped. Yes she had a her down days but she was determined to live life to its fullest and documented her thoughts on everything through her blog (please do check it out) -

Lisa's legacy lives on through her blog and social media posts from her family. It was after watching this programme that I decided to set up my blog to try and help me cope with mum's diagnosis (and the fear that one day this could be my story also)

Mum was a carer her whole life - from looking after her younger siblings, looking after hew own granny who was also diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimers to engaging in a career working in nursing homes which ofcourse involves a lot of caring.

I like to think in a roundabout way mum is still carrying on with her caring role she has taken on her whole life, she just doesnt realise it. I get many people messaging me and thanking me for sharing our families story as it helps them to k now they are not alone in this journey and can relate to many posts.

Really its mum who deserves the thanks. This is mum's story, she is just unable to share it personally so I am doing this for her, and I know it would make her so happy to know how many peoples lives she has touched.

I pass on every thanks to mum and I would like to thank Lisa at Alright Tit for inspiring me to be more open.
