Gemma has very bravely chosen to share her experience with her dads Dementia, unfortunately her dad passed away in 2016 - 4 years and 10 months after his initial diagnosis.

This is Gemma's very own account in memory of her dad, the above picture was taken 25 years ago.

My wonderful Dad went to the GP aged 57 for very mild memory problems, and was diagnosed 6 months later with early onset dementia. He had just become a Grandpa for the first time. Dad had cognitive enhancer drugs and we fought to keep him as able and active as possible. Dad developed dementia related epilepsy which Dr's did not know how to treat. My dear dear Dad went into hospital in July 2016 and passed away 7 weeks later. My Dad was so loved and so wanted by our whole family. Life is very hard without him.

Thank you Gemma for sharing your dad's story, i know it was hard for you to do.
