To stay in work for as long as possible

One thing I know that has effected my mum is the feeling of 'not having a purpose'

Now as much as we all may complain about getting up in the morning for work, if it was taken away from us I guarantee we would miss it. It must be so hard to go from working everyday to then all of a sudden not. This is something people with EOAD may experience and my mum is one of them.

I wish there was something in place to allow people with EOAD to continue to work in some sort of way? Not even work but be allowed to still feel like they have a purpose? I know this would be hard as the Alzheimers effects everyone differently.

I work in Retail and have done so for 12 years, and have always dreamt of owning my own business. I swayed from idea to idea of what this business could be. Now I know what I would do if I had the money - I'd open up a shop where people with Alzheimer's could come work and feel they have a purpose. Now i don't know how exactly this could work, but you never know unless you try?

I'm using my mum as an example. It would give her something to look forward to? It would get her socialising again with different people. Give her back this sense of purpose she feels she has lost.

If I won the lottery this is what I would do. I would open up a craft shop where we could hold sessions for those who can't work to come and make things, then possibly sell them in the shop? Proceeds would go back to the families to allow them to use the money to create memories for them and their loved ones, or to aid them in creating a dementia friendly living environment?

My mind is running wild with ideas, now I just need A) win the lottery B) get myself on Dragons Den C) find a backer who believes in my idea........

Who knows in years to come this may not be a dream but a reality!
